The Berkira Learning System teaches students how to learn, and is the first program of its kind. No other system has arisen that gives such lasting results, much less one that does it in so few sessions.
We do not intend to help students prepare for their next test, rather we wish to equip each student with the necessary tools to learn on their own, without the assistance of a tutor. Our goal is to create independent learners—only this way will children have success throughout school and beyond.
All of Berkira's programs are short in duration and we do not assign any homework. A child's schedule is busy and we understand that it is hard to balance seven or more hours of school with sports, clubs, homework, and tutoring. After a short time at Berkira, students not only learn independence, but efficiency in reading, writing, and math.
Independent learning is a solution while traditional tutoring remains a temporary bandage. Enroll your child today in one of our programs to see real, permanent results.
Ira Berke and the history of Berkira
In 1959 Ira Berke founded Ber-Kira Day Camp and Nursery School in Long Beach, Long Island, NY. Over thirteen years, thousands of kids passed through Camp Ber-Kira's doors and were given the opportunity to play and grow.
Ira was a loving educator (and father) who gained insight about how kids learn. Fortunately he was able to pass this knowledge on to his children, who have successfully implemented his strategies ever since.
For almost four decades, what we have called the Berkira Learning System has been used to help students all over New York and for seven years, South Florida. Berkira Learning Center is proud of our namesake not only for its history, but for its incredible success.
